The benefits of music are widely known; the study of music is proven to enhance the areas of the brain involved in developing language, reasoning, mathematical and critical thinking skills.

Music teaches patience, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and the rewards of hard work. Students who study music score better on standardized tests and achieve higher grades.

As demonstrated by the success of Venezuela’s El Sistema program, music is a also very effective medium in implementing social change.  In addition to the benefits listed above, involvement in musical ensembles also fosters mutual respect as well as a sense of self-worth and self-confidence.
